Part 7: World War III — The War to Truly End All Wars
Seven parts. This is where we have been going all along.
We established in Part 1 that the Antichrist is a regional ruler, not a global one — and that a one-world government under his control is permanently forbidden by divine decree since Babel. We established in Part 2 why. In Part 3 we identified where the Antichrist comes from: the territory of ancient Assyria, modern Turkey. In Part 4 we built the prophetic map — Daniel 8's ram and he-goat, the composite beast of Revelation 13, the Iron Legs of Nebuchadnezzar's statue — and showed that every road leads to the same destination. In Part 5 we identified the Mark of the Beast as a badge of religious allegiance, the Bismillah on the arm and forehead of those who submit to the Islamic Caliphate. In Part 6 we described the world in which all of this unfolds — not an obvious dystopia but a world going about its business, in which the spiritual falling-away of the Church, the return of paganism, and the Islamic flood into Europe are simply the background noise of daily life.
Now comes the end. Not the cosmic abstraction that prophecy books usually describe. The specific, geographically anchored, historically grounded sequence of events that Scripture — from Daniel to Ezekiel to Revelation — lays out in remarkable detail. Let me take you through it.
It Begins with Egypt
The spark that ignites World War III is not a nuclear launch, not a coup, not a global economic collapse. It is a diplomatic failure between Turkey and Egypt.
Daniel 11 gives us the sequence. By the time these events unfold, the Antichrist — the King of the North — will have already consolidated Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon under his control. The other Middle Eastern nations will largely have submitted to him, either by force or by diplomacy. Only one major nation in the region will resist: Egypt.
The ruler of Egypt, facing the threat of the Antichrist's expanding empire, will send his daughter to negotiate. The negotiations will fail. Daniel 11:6-7:
"After the end of years they shall be in league together: and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make friendship, but she shall not obtain the strength of the arm... And a plant of the bud of her roots, shall stand up: and he shall come with an army, and shall enter into the province of the king of the north."
Egypt will actually win the first round, driving the Antichrist back and taking prisoners. This will humiliate him. He will regroup. Daniel 11:13:
"The king of the north shall return and shall prepare a multitude much greater than before: and in the end of times and years, he shall come in haste with a great army, and much riches."
He returns with a larger army and overwhelms Egypt, helped by civil unrest within Egypt itself. After this second campaign, the Antichrist enters into negotiations with the Egyptian ruler — and Daniel tells us bluntly that both parties are lying to each other: "The heart of the two kings shall be to do evil, and they shall speak lies at one table." (Daniel 11:27) Eventually, Egypt capitulates. The Antichrist returns to Turkey, adding Egypt's wealth to his empire's coffers. Daniel 11:43 tells us that after seizing Egypt, "the Libyans and Ethiopians" — Sudan — will follow at his steps, voluntarily. The ancient Ottoman gateway to Africa will be reopened. The encirclement of Arabia is beginning to take shape.
Flush with this victory, the Antichrist turns his eyes westward.
The Invasion of Europe
When Europe learns the full extent of what the Antichrist has done to Egypt's Christian population — the slaughter, the persecution, the forced submission — international outrage erupts. Isaiah 23:1 captures this: "Howl, ye ships of the sea" — the nations of "Chittim" and the isles, ancient terms for Europe, broadcast the atrocities to the world. Ezekiel 38:13 echoes it: "Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee: Art thou come to take a spoil?" Europe and America protest loudly. The Antichrist, enraged at their condemnation, makes a decision that transforms a regional conquest into a world war. Daniel 11:18: "After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many." He decides to invade Europe.
His army will cross through Bulgaria and Serbia. His coalition will include forces from Persia (Iran), Lydia (Turkey), and Put (North Africa), precisely as Ezekiel 27:10 describes. His arrival in Europe will be sudden and unexpected. Isaiah 23:11 captures the initial European reaction: "All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance."
Now the New Axis forms. Revelation 16:13-14 describes three evil powers — "three unclean spirits like frogs" — gathering the kings of the earth to battle. The Antichrist's Neo-Ottoman Empire is one of these frogs. A second is Germany. St. Ambrose of Milan, writing in 378 AD, identified "Gog" with the Goths — the Germanic peoples of the north. This is consistent with Germany's historical track record across multiple centuries: the initiating aggressor in some of the bloodiest conflicts in European history, the last major European nation to convert to Christianity, and now the primary European partner of Turkish migration policy. The third frog is Japan — "the kings from the rising of the sun" in Revelation 16:12, the one nation whose very name means "Origin of the Sun." Japan fought alongside Germany in WWII. Turkey fought alongside Germany in WWI. In the final war, all three are together at last.
This is not a claim about the German or Japanese people of today. They are not our enemies today. Alliances shift. Nations change. We need look no further than Japan's current process of revisiting its pacifist constitution, under pressure from China, to see how quickly the geopolitical landscape can shift. The prophecy is about a future alignment, not a present one. But the historical and spiritual pattern points clearly enough that it deserves to be stated plainly.
The Desecration of the Vatican and the Two Witnesses
As the Antichrist's forces drive through the Balkans toward Italy, Germany — fulfilling the Old Saxon prophecy that "in Germany begins a dance which passeth through Italy" — moves against Italy from the north. Rome is invaded. The Vatican is sacked.
Daniel 11:31 describes the climax of this desecration:
"And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall defile the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the continual sacrifice, and they shall place there the abomination unto desolation."
The "sanctuary of strength" is the heart of the Christian world — the place where the Eucharist, the "continual sacrifice," is offered daily. The "continual sacrifice" is not animal offerings. Those were abolished at the Cross. The continual sacrifice of the New Covenant is the Eucharist — "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life" (John 6:54). Joel 1:9 confirms this interpretation: "The grain offering and the drink offering are cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests mourn, they who minister before the Lord." Islamic law forbids wine. Wherever the Antichrist's authority extends, the Mass is banned, the Eucharist is cut off, and the grain and drink offering ceases.
The sacking of the Vatican will be the moment that transforms the war from a regional conflict into a worldwide one. Catholics everywhere will be outraged. America, which has been monitoring but not participating, will be put on notice. This is the moment when the entire world's attention snaps to what is happening.
During the 1,260 days of the Antichrist's reign — the three and a half years of the Tribulation — Revelation 11:3-6 tells us that two witnesses will prophesy in Jerusalem. These are not Moses and Elijah returned in person. Revelation 11:8 identifies them as Christians — "where also their Lord was crucified" — and Revelation 11:4 calls them the "two lampstands," the same symbol used in Revelation 1-3 for churches. The two witnesses represent the two apostolic-succession traditions that have kept the Eucharist intact and unbroken from the time of the Apostles: the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. Their ministry runs concurrent with the Antichrist's reign. When it is complete, the Beast kills them. Their bodies lie in the streets of Jerusalem — left unburied and on public display, which is a distinctly Islamic practice — while the Islamic world celebrates. Three and a half days later, God raises them. A voice from heaven calls them up. The earth shakes. Seven thousand die.
This is God's commentary on the Antichrist's apparent victory at its moment of greatest triumph.
France Turns the Tide
After the Vatican, the Antichrist and his armies march toward France. It is here that everything turns.
Monk Hilarion, writing in the fifteenth century, predicted that the Islamic forces would overrun Europe for three years, committing atrocities — and then:
"in the third year, one of the unconquerable Eagles who reigns over the enlightened nation between the Rhine and the North Sea, with a great army, meet them by the mouth of the River Rhine, and in a fearful battle, almost entirely annihilate them."
The nation between the Rhine and the North Sea is France. The French King — the one we discussed in Part 6, the ruler arising from the crucible of internal revolution and refinement — will lead a counter-offensive that shatters the Antichrist's army at the Rhine.
England and Belgium will join the resistance. Russia will have already engaged the Antichrist's forces in Italy, entering the moment Turkish troops crossed Serbia — the same trigger that pulled Russia into WWI, repeated in the Last Days. China will be drawn in on the side of the allies, confronting Japan. By the time America enters the war — attacked directly by the Antichrist, as Daniel 11:39 predicts ("He will attack the mightiest fortresses") — the tide is already beginning to turn.
Daniel 11:39 is worth pausing on. The Antichrist attacks "the mightiest of fortresses" — the strongest military power on earth. There is only one nation that checks that box: the United States. This will be a Pearl Harbor or 9/11 scenario — an attack that forces America, which has been reluctant to fully commit to the war, into the conflict with its full weight. Historically, this has been the American pattern in both World Wars. It will be the pattern again. Ezekiel 28:7-8 confirms what happens next:
"I will bring upon thee strangers the strongest of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom... They shall kill thee, and bring thee down: and thou shalt die the death of them that are slain in the heart of the sea."
God promises the Antichrist that He will send "the strongest of the nations" to bring him down. America and Russia, once they align, will ultimately deliver a nuclear strike against Turkey itself.
The private prophecy tradition confirms this alliance explicitly. One prophecy preserved in Yves Dupont's collection speaks of "those of the Arctic" — Russia and America, linked by the Bering Strait — being allied together, causing "great fear and great trembling" in the East, and leading to Istanbul being "dyed with barbarian blood." Dupont's own narrative summary of what the prophetic tradition collectively foretells states that at this stage, "U.S. troops come to the assistance of Western Europe. Russia and China are converted to Catholicism, as also the Muhammadans." Three convergences at the same moment: America entering the war in defense of Europe, Russia and China converting to Christianity, the mass conversion of the surviving Muslim world. All three confirmed by Scripture across this study.
Saudi Arabia: The Harlot Falls
Before Armageddon, one more event of enormous prophetic significance occurs: the destruction of Saudi Arabia.
Revelation 17 describes a woman — a harlot — sitting on the beast, clothed in purple and scarlet, drunk with the blood of the saints. She is called "Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots." Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Revelation all use "Babylon" to refer to Arabia and Iraq — the ancient Chaldean heartland, the territory of the Arabian Peninsula, the birthplace of Islam. The Vatican is not Babylon. America is not Babylon. Babylon is Arabia, exactly as it has always been in every other context where the word appears in Scripture.
The Kings of the Earth have "committed fornication" with this harlot — they have gone along with her evils in order to obtain her "wine," her oil. Saudi Arabia made the world drunk with petrodollars and terrorism simultaneously. The world saw the terrorism and looked the other way because the oil was too valuable to lose. This is the fornication of kings.
But Revelation 17:16 delivers the stunning reversal:
"And the ten horns which thou sawest in the beast: these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her with fire."
The beast — the Antichrist's empire — turns on Saudi Arabia and destroys her. This is not surprising from a historical standpoint: every Islamic Caliphate throughout history has eventually moved its center of power away from Mecca, demonstrating contempt for the Arabian peninsula even while claiming to serve the god who made his debut there. The Islamic world's most authoritative Sunni scholars formally anathematized Wahhabism — Saudi Islam — at the Grozny Conference in 2016. The hatred is already building in plain sight.
Isaiah 13:17-20 tells us the instrument of destruction:
"Behold I will stir up the Medes against them... And that Babylon, glorious among kingdoms, the famous pride of the Chaldeans, shall be even as the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha. It shall no more be inhabited for ever."
The Medes are the ancestors of the modern Kurds and Iranians. Elam is an ancient name for Persia — Iran. Isaiah 21:2 commands: "Go up, O Elam, besiege, O Mede." Iran, driven by centuries of Sunni-Shia rivalry and God's own divine purpose, will destroy Saudi Arabia with nuclear weapons. Revelation 18:8 confirms the speed of it:
"her plagues shall come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine, and she shall be burnt with the fire."
One day. The merchants of the earth will see the "smoke of her burning" — nuclear mushroom clouds — rising from the sea.
Saudi Arabia will never be inhabited again. Isaiah 13:20 is absolute: "It shall no more be inhabited for ever." Jeremiah 51 repeats it. Revelation 18 repeats it. Scripture hammers this point with an insistence that should not be misread: God intends Saudi Arabia's destruction to be permanent and total. The wealth she used to silence the world's conscience will be what causes her to burn — her oil reserves will catch fire in the nuclear blast and turn the entire peninsula into what Isaiah 34:9 describes:
"The streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the ground thereof into brimstone: and the land thereof shall become burning pitch."
Armageddon
With the Antichrist driven out of Europe, with Turkey destroyed by nuclear strikes, with Saudi Arabia in ashes, the Antichrist makes his final move: he marches on Israel.
Zechariah 14:2 describes what happens when he arrives:
"And I will gather all nations to Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses shall be rifled, and the women shall be defiled: and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the rest of the people shall not be taken away out of the city."
Half of Jerusalem falls. It looks, at this moment, like the end. Every earthly calculation says the cause is lost.
It is at precisely this moment that Zechariah 14:3-4 continues:
"Then the Lord shall go forth, and shall fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is over against Jerusalem toward the east: and the mount of Olives shall be divided in the midst thereof to the east, and to the west with a very great opening."
His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives. The last time Jesus stood on the Mount of Olives and left it, the disciples watched the cloud take him up, and two angels told them: "This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11) He left from the Mount of Olives. He returns to the Mount of Olives. The mountain splits at his landing. The Allies — earthly armies following him from the west and the east — converge on Jerusalem simultaneously.
Revelation 19:11-16 gives us the vision of what this looks like from heaven's perspective:
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true, and with justice doth he judge and fight. And his eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many diadems... And he was clothed with a garment sprinkled with blood; and his name is called, THE WORD OF GOD. And the armies that are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp two edged sword; that with it he may strike the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty. And he hath on his garment, and on his thigh written: KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."
The heavenly armies that follow Him are not angels alone. Joel 2 describes the army of God in terms that make clear it is composed of people who can leap across mountains, scale walls, and take no harm — people in resurrected, supernatural bodies. These are the saints — the Christians beheaded by the Antichrist and his followers, raised in their glorified bodies, returning with Christ to take their revenge on the empire that killed them. The martyrs come back. The Antichrist beheaded Christians with swords. Christ will behead him with a heavenly sword. Isaiah 63:3 describes what Jesus looks like when He arrives:
"I have trodden the winepress alone... I have trampled on them in my indignation, and have trodden them down in my wrath, and their blood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my apparel."
His robes soaked with the blood of His enemies. This is not allegory. This is literal.
Ezekiel 39 describes the aftermath: the dead bodies of the Antichrist's army will take seven months to bury. The weapons will take seven years to burn. The land will be so saturated with the remains of war that Israel will still be cleaning it up when the Millennial Reign has been underway for years. After the Antichrist is defeated and captured, Jesus will lead a military campaign through Egypt, North Africa, Iran, and finally to Saudi Arabia, where He and the Allies will complete the destruction that began with Iran's nuclear strike. Then He returns to Jerusalem.
The Kingdom Comes
In Jerusalem, Jesus will judge the nations — separating the Sheep from the Goats at the national level, exactly as He does at the individual level. The Sheep Nations that stood with Him enter the Kingdom. The Goat Nations face judgment. The Jewish Diaspora — Jews scattered to the four corners of the earth for two thousand years — is gathered home. Ezekiel 39:28:
"I caused them to be carried away among the nations; and I have gathered them together unto their own land, and have not left any of them there."
Every last one called home.
Paul's words in Romans 11:26 — "All Israel will be saved" — are not metaphor. They are the culmination of the entire prophetic program. The Tribulation, as terrible as it is, exists in part for this purpose: to break the hardness of heart that has kept Israel from recognizing her Messiah for twenty centuries. The suffering of the last days is the birth pangs of a new people — the moment when Abraham's two lines of descendants, physical and spiritual, finally converge under one Shepherd.
Isaiah describes what comes after in terms that have always seemed too good to be true — until you understand that the One who establishes the Kingdom is the same One who said "Let there be light":
"The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid... They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:6-9)
This is the Millennial Reign. One thousand years of Christ's direct rule. Peace not as a political achievement but as a divine gift, maintained by the King of Kings Himself.
And at the end of the thousand years, the final judgment — the Great White Throne. Satan is released, makes one last attempt, fails. Then: "a new heaven and a new earth." The old order passes completely. The story that began in a garden in Eden ends in a city — the New Jerusalem, coming down from heaven, God dwelling with His people forever, no more death, no more mourning, no more pain, "for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
What This Demands of You
I said at the beginning of Part 1 that this series was not going to be about producing anxiety. I am going to close by honoring that commitment.
The framework we have built across seven parts is not a framework for panic. It is a framework for clarity. Scripture does not give us the details of the last days so that we can calculate dates or build bunkers. It gives us the details so that we can recognize what is happening when it happens, and so that we can remain faithful when the pressure to unfaithfulness is greatest.
The Antichrist is not invincible. He is a mortal man granted a temporary dominion over a limited region, whose end is written before his beginning. Daniel 8:25 gave it to us plainly: "he shall be broken without hand." Not by a human alliance, not by a nuclear weapon, not by any earthly power. Broken without human hand. God ends it.
The Church is not going to be exterminated. The Two Witnesses die — and rise. The martyrs die — and return in glory. The nations that persecuted God's people are brought low. The nations that sheltered them are lifted up. The God who authored the ending has not merely told you what happens. He has invited you into it.
Three things this demands: first, do not be afraid. Isaiah 10:24 says it to Israel about the Assyrian — the very title for the Antichrist: "Be not afraid of the Assyrian." He is God's instrument of testing, not God's final word. Second, study. The West's inability to recognize the Islamic Antichrist is not a failure of intelligence. It is a failure of the imagination — the failure that comes from reading a Middle Eastern book through a European lens for five hundred years. Every Christian who reads this series and comes away understanding the geographic, historical, and cultural context of biblical prophecy is better equipped to see clearly when the signs appear. And the signs are already appearing.
Third: pray. The Two Witnesses will come. The war will come. The desecration will come. None of this is in our hands to prevent. But the posture of watchfulness that Jesus demanded — "Watch ye therefore" (Matthew 24:42) — is not passive waiting. It is active faithfulness. Keep the lamp lit. Keep the faith intact. Refuse the Mark, whatever form it takes. Keep the testimony of Jesus, even at the cost Jesus said it might require.
The last image of this study is not the Antichrist triumphant in Jerusalem. It is a white horse, and the One who rides it is called Faithful and True, and out of His mouth proceeds the sharp sword that ends the dominion of the Beast forever.

Seven parts, and here we are. My closing question for this series is the simplest one yet: what are you going to do differently now? Not "what do you think differently" — what are you going to do? Reading prophecy that doesn't change your prayer life, your giving, your willingness to speak unpopular truth, your care for persecuted Christians around the world — that prophecy has done nothing. I hope this series has done something. I believe it has, or you would have stopped reading long before Part 7. So: what comes next for you?
